YouSpeak is an organization that is dedicated to three main things: reducing the amount of political apathy within our community, sharpening and encouraging our critical thinking skills, and providing a legitimate platform for aspiring writers to have their work published.
YouSpeak's website will act as a medium for meaningful discussion - we aim to tackle social issues reflective of the contentious and confusing political environment we live in. We're different; we're curated; we're made up of the community.
YouSpeak does not identify with any political stance, nor will it discriminate based on the popularity of a particular view. We believe that all views which can be articulated well, argued logically, and supported by facts deserve to be heard. Reasonable human beings are able to discuss social issues without shouting down, harassing, or belittling others who don't share the same opinion as them.
Our website will be used to publish opinion editorials that tackle the issues the community cares about. Our curation board will be vigilant in protecting not only the ability to speak freely, but also the right to be free from harassment. Hate speech, cursing, and unsubstantiated assertions will not be published.
Our hope is that by our facilitation of discussion, readers and writers will be better informed, better equipped, and more willing to tackle hard discussions and questions.
As a Content Curator, you will be responsible for reading, reviewing multiple public submitted articles, and advising the board of directors as to which to publish.
Dates and Times
All work is done remotely and submitted through e-mail or social media. On average, we expect curators to dedicate 1 to 2 hours per week to this position.
